What I Can Offer Your Library

I am willing to work as an independent contractor/consultant to help your library meet its needs. I have a variety of skills I can put to use for you.

Revamping or updating your library's website. I have been creating websites by scratch since 1998, and have even taught several classes on HTML & CSS. Take a look at a list of my websites.

Providing Professional Development Training. I have extensive teaching/presenting experience, at workshops and professional conferences. Take a look at my past presentations and list of possible topics I can present on.

Filling Virtual Reference Shifts. If you participate in a cooperative library chat program such as OCLC's QuestionPoint, but don't have the staff or time to do your required shifts, I can do them for you. I spent 9 years managing the Ask Us 24/7 virtual reference service, teaching best practices for chat, and filling shifts myself.

Digitization Project Consulting. I spent 2 years as a regional manager for the New York Heritage digital collections website. I have knowledge of project planning, dealing with vendors, scanning in-house, choosing appropriate metadata, and uploading with the CONTENTdm Project Client.

Making Videos. I have several years experience in recording and editing videos for YouTube and other social media. I have created tutorials, highlight reels, and promotional videos on the WNYLRC YouTube Channel. I also have a personal YouTube channel in which I post videos on the topic of pet loss.
